About the series
Vision20XX is a series of conversations hosted by the Center for Middle East Studies at Brown University, exploring various nation-building projects that have emerged in the Middle East and North Africa over the past decade. Articulated in the form of ambitious “vision” documents (e.g., Saudi Vision 2030, UAE Vision 2071, etc.), these national agendas reflect a diverse set of aspirations for social, economic and political change, often shaped by input from private consultancies, global NGOs and government authorities. This series brings together scholars, journalists, and professionals in different fields to explore the “envisioned communities” conceived by these national programs, and to consider what effect they may have on the future of the region.
